Is someone on this Forum responsible for the
creation and/or updating of Richard's Wiki page?
I just had a look, and spent a couple of minutes
updating it, and altering sentence structure ... but
it still doesn't look like right. I didn't want to
monkey with it too much, at risk of offending a
Wiki guardian. Any consensus on what it should
contain?

I am just now researching an article on Richard
for my new Blog, starting with listening closely
to some of the interviews in DUST DEVIL 5disc.
Anyone got hard data on his formative period
back in the RSA?

My Blog is http://therunagatesclub.blogspot.com/
Nothing there yet about Richard. I'll put a notice
here when I have it up. Happy New Year

If you ask me, yes I've sometimes updated it. Didn't create it, won't take credit for it. If you consider it half-assed, go ahead and fix it. Wikipedia stores previous iterations, so you wouldn't actually delete someone else's work.

What it should have... For example, take a look at David Fincher's Wiki page. It doesn't have to be too verbose. A good, structured overview of a filmmakers career would do.

I didn't catch the RSA acronym, so I can't answer that question right now.

Thanks for responding; I will look at Fincher in the AM.
I had to inquire about the Wiki because the 3 to 4 times
I have tried to improve on an existing page, a Wiki guardian
has pounced and restored their own text. I don't
want to play that game.

"RSA" is of course Republic of South Africa, which
is how I always refer to place of birth.
As I said at the top of thread, I will c.c. members of this
Forum when I have put a piece on my Blog about
Richard. I would like to create more interest in his
work here in Vancouver. I have nothing else yet on my
new Blog page that will interest members here,
although I do intend to stick to mainly cinema or
broadcast topics.
By the way, has anyone got a GOOD photo of Richard
in which he isn't hiding under a hat? Cheers!

"Born in South Africa, RICHARD STANLEY (Writer) pursued his interest in filmmaking by enrolling in the Cape Town Film and Video School." - The Island of Dr Moreau press release.

He did RITES OF PASSAGE there before being expelled.

Without the hat... Have a Finnish interview somewhere with a decent photo, sans the hat. Will have to dig around for it.

Thanks. I had a look at the David Fincher Wiki page.
It is good. Richard deserves nothing less.
Let's resolve to punch it up over the coming weeks.
I look forward to that photo, if you would copy it for me
to use. I am not satisfied with what I can can find now
via Google Image. No doubt Richard IS satisfied, or
he would do something about it. Doesn't he have a
publicist?

I've started researching for a Blog piece. I could easily
sing Richards praises, but that is not a contribution.
I want to know more about the man. I enjoy him
because he is so obviously an obsessive personality.
(I been collecting such beasts for years) When I played
his Dust Devil interview last month, I yelled to
my son in the next room. "Jesus Christ are you hearing
this? This guys a marvel. He doesn't even take a breath!"

He must have driven the Hollywood types howling mad!
And I marvel at his technique of using short subjects mixed
with the spoils of abortive projects as a sort of underpainting,
the necessary preparation for his more costly feature
work. Where is he going I wonder? Let's watch.

In a funny way, I guess you could say I've been his publicist during these past years. I don't mean to boast, only trying to emphasize that Richard just sort of pops up every now and then, no need for a publicist in the intervening time.

The image that's featured on the website is obviously taken by a professional, and that's the first one of those I've seen since the HARDWARE days. I'll have to look for the mag, if I find it I should be able to procure a scan sometime next week.
