Any fans of this movie around? I really love this movie, the Australian desert setting (same desert used in Mad Max) really sets the image of this movie and the sound the razorback makes is just awesome. If you haven't already seen this movie, go check it out asap.

IMDB http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087981/

I haven't seen that one ... A big boar, huh? :) Well, a thumbs-up for the director, as he also did "Highlander"... but a thumbs down 'cause he also did "Highlander II" ... need I say more
But another thumbs-up, for having done four different "Tales From the Crypt" episodes ... :D ..(I may have to go check him out) ... and something in '85 called "Arena" ... but Duran Duran?!?? When I hear "Arena", esp. in a B-movie context, I think of this classic (filmed in '89, released in '91):

Image

Mmmmm ... reminds me of a couple other little-heard-of gems (both came out the same year as HARDWARE)...: Robot Jox ('90)(who-hoo, go Gary Graham, go Paul Koslo!! lol), and Crash and Burn ('90)(a suprisingly engaging Charles Band production with a dash of cyberpunk... or at least, as I remember it .. it's been a while :P ) ... and, damnit, there's one more, in the same class -- but I can't remember it's name. Just like Arena, but using Droids/Robots instead. And not giant, like "Robot Jox" -- where the coach was running out of money, and couldn't buy replacement parts to fix his 'bot up, after some rough matches, somewhere in the middle? Ring a bell with anyone?

:droid:

Actually, the writing team of ARENA churned up this scifi-series THE SENTINEL, which I remember enjoying quite a bit when I was coming to age. Years ago, that was. I do remember watching a whole lot more TV back then.

Image

After spending years in the Peruvian jungle during his tour in Army Special Forces, Cascade PD Detective James Ellison developed hyperactive senses, which came back to him five years after his return to the US. He can see people in darkened windows at night from two hundred yards, hear the music playing on the radio of the car he's chasing after he's lost sight of it, and can distinguish between wood and plastic after both have been in a three thousand degree fire.

Blair Sandburg, a local anthropology student, tells Ellison that he is a "Sentinel," who in ancient tribes would protect the village and seek out game using such hyperactive senses. Sandburg becomes Ellison's back-watcher and teacher of how to use his new powers as Ellison brings a whole new edge to the war on crime in Cascade, Washington.

How quaint.

I'm a fan of that film. :) But I haven't found it anywhere, yet. My quest is to find it. :)

Razorback is available on Region 1 & 2. I've got the Region 2 Anchor Bay disc which doesn't have much in the way of extras but does have a DTS track.

Apparently, there's a very nice Region 4 special edition but I don't know what the extra goodies are.

All details can be found here:

Note that the Anchor bay release with extras is out of print and has been re-released in a barebones disc!

Thanks for the link.

I've noticed the new bare-bones Anchor Bay releases. Even the audio has been stripped back to vanilla DD 2.0. :!:

Finally saw this, had last seen this ages ago. Couple of things cought my eye, the windmill-thing with the blue light coming from behind it was very similar to the thing seen in flashes in the beginning of Hardware. Plus the burning house in the beginning was kinda reminiscent of Dust Devil's burning house. Kinda makes one think that Richard Stanley has seen Razorback and really appreciates it.

Another Aussie flick that might be worth seeing called Dark Age, a crock film, anyone seen it? Has John Jarratt of Wolf Creek - fame in it.
