Just for laughs, I checked Amazon.com for the price on that old $126 Hardware DVD that was floating around...

...look what they're charging for it now!

Got the opportunity to see this in a theater in Stockholm quite recently. Wow, that was an experience to see it BIG. I even got a friend who hadn't seen it to take a couple of hours off from work to see it. He liked it.

And Glurrk, why don't you buy the official DVD-release (22nd of June). It's exactly 739$ cheaper. I've already preordered my copy. It's released by the awesome Optimum Home Entertainment, so the quality is hopefully as good as it will ever get.

Just thought I would pop in and give you some good news. Oh wait, there is no fucking good news!

Welcome to the forum.

We have a dedicated thread for the Optimum disc here.

Can't beat that price! :D

I'm debating whether or not I should wait for the Region 1. I do have a region-free DVD player, so that's not an issue.

Man, I can't believe there's anyone alive who'd be crazy enough to pay that much for ANY film, let alone the wonderful Hardware.

do you think it comes inside the actual head of the Mark-13, complete with a radioactive aura? 8)

I'd pay that much, but only if Stacey Travis hand-delivered it on my doorstep and then asked to use my shower.

Interestingly enough, the price just went up to $812 as of this post!

now going for $998.50

c'mon, why hold back on the four figures. I want to see this selling for at least $1500 by the time Optimum's release comes out

Awesome!

I should post that link on a few other message boards just to see if anything else happens!

where's the stamina?!

the price has dropped to $533. so disappointing.
I guess 'Raegan Butcher' decided the Optimum release would hurt the impending sale...

I wish I posted on this earlier... last time I checked, there were now 2 Hardware DVDs, and that $533 disc was the newcomer. The original disc was still at the "hovering-at-the-$1,000-mark".

So, either Raegan Butcher removed the disc from sale, or some super hard-core Hardware fan decided to brag how much they paid for their Hardware DVD (without checking here first) and picked it up.

Hope it was worth it!

a little more info on the disc, including who's releasing the US DVD & Blu Ray
(edit: of course, if I'd read the topic header in the previous post... ). now it makes me want to wait and see if either this or the UK release turn out better.

"Richard Stanley’s sci-fi/horror cult classic HARDWARE is finally set to make its U.S. DVD debut, and will appear on Blu-ray as well. Severin Films will release the film. The movie will be presented in uncut, uncensored form, transferred from Stanley’s personal print. " (Fangoria, via Gorezone)

felt this was worth posting here, for posterity (taken from the afformentioned Fangoria article).
this would seem to suggest a good chance the Severin edition will be the one to get:

“They say, ‘Once in every generation a plague shall fall upon you,’ ” the writer/director tells us, “and so it is that after an absence of almost two decades, I am proud to announce the second coming of HARDWARE to American shores in its full, savage, psychedelic, utterly unexpurgated and wholly unrated glory. The Shadow Theatre has recently concluded a deal with Severin Films and Norman Hill at Subversive Cinema, who oversaw the successful 2008 release of the DUST DEVIL boxed set, to fully restore, remix and remaster HARDWARE for its first appearance on DVD, and to provide the viewing public with an experience unlike anything they have ever seen before. You have been warned…”

Adds Severin’s David Gregory, “...My Severin partners and I are ecstatic that we can debut this long-dormant horror/sci-fi classic on DVD and Blu-ray in collaboration with Richard Stanley and Norm Hill. Furthermore, the collection of rare goodies that Richard is gathering for the release is mind-blowing; this is sure to be the definitive edition of HARDWARE.”

don't suppose there's any word on whether the Severin Films release will see the light of day sometime in '09?
