It’s been almost 3 months since I've been trying to find work! I’m running out of money! We have high unemployment here in Poland & it’s hot as hell here in Warsaw actually! All this & many other things, inspired me to do a list of my favorite films about wastelands, wild merciless society & other post apocalyptic visions.

The winner is:
1 – „A boy and his dog” Directed by L.Q. Jones 1975. This is a brilliant comedy, in a post nuke wasteland With Don johnson (Miami vice) as a main character. It’s Amazing, wery funny, and very, very unique. Outstanding :!:

2 - „Django” Directed by Sergio Corbucci 1966.
This is A Spaghetti Western. Simply amazing if you will have the opportunity to se it. Dont ignore it. its really awesome!

3- „Mad max no1” Directed by George Miller 1979. This one don’t need any comments. 8)

4 – „28 Days later” Directed by Danny Boyle 2002. Not only it look’s great but it’s also very unique. And it have a interesting unpredictable plot. Creepy.

5 – „Hardware” ... Okay, okay! Don’t beat me up  ... Why this one is only no5? I just don’t like to watch so much brutality. But the rest is great.

6 – Dead man Directed by Jim Jarmusch 1995. Yet another western. Its hard to find another film like this. Very unique, sometimes funny, very interesting plot.

Thats all for now. I’m also waiting for your list of your favored film’s about death of our planet or something related.

in post-apocalyptic movies nothing beats VISITOR OF A MUSEUM, a Russian ultra-nihilistic, uber-bleak opus.

well, I guess STALKER is also post-apocalyptic, and if so, then that's no. 1 ! (and close to Stanley's heart, since he adores Tarkovsky!)

If you mean this Russian movie. I've heard a lot about it, but never had opportunity to see it. :( it's an old film & I'll probably never see it :bawling:

I don't have VISITOR in any form right now (I used to have a VHS copy made off a TV showing, but it's no longer there), but am hoping someone somewhere's gonna make a DVD of it... By the way, the same director made LETTERS FROM A DEAD MAN, which also seems to be post-apocalyptic, but I haven't seen that one.

And while I'm at post-communist apocalypse, you should be aware of the greatness that is BELA TARR, the director of some stunning films which capture the decay and beauty of rotting buildings, people and whole landscapes: it's unspeakably gloomy, but that's the way I like it! Check out his DAMNATION (I have that on divx...)! Go to google or imdb to see more on the guy, if you want REAL apocalypse and not some fancy-pancy Americanized sanitized cliche version - go for it!

Escape from NY comes to mind, Neuromancer whenever they get off their read and do it, and I consider Strange Days to have some of that...

and lets not forget Delicatessen (FR, 1991, Dir. Jeunet et Caro), one of my all time fave movies! I strongly recommend it!

Delicatessen was awesome. I've had the laserdisc for years; I need to get the DVD already.
