Those storyboards are for the opening title sequence of the film and are the handiwork of the busybody title designer Kyle Cooper. I'd say it's something that was done late into the game, probably with little to no Richard involvement. Can't vouch for that one, though.

Here's the finished sequence:


The storyboards will make more sense after watching it.

It's a fantastic sequence. This, the Gary Chang score and the performance of some of the animal people (particularly Hyena swine) are the main high points of the film for me.

I still wonder what we would have gotten with Richard at the helm. It's such a shame what happened.
