:D First off I must say i'm extremely happy about this finally being released. i got a VCD from japan off e-bay that i think is from the Japanese laser disc. It works for now, but has subtitles that are fixed. (can't remove)
To ur earlier post, Sic: about what extras i would like on the dvd, let's say i'm hoping subversive gets it!!!!!!!!!
My Fantasy Edition:
-new transfer of the RS unrated director's cut in its original aspect ratio.
-soundtrack included (like dust devil).
-new commentary.
-new interviews about getting the rights back/trouble releasing it the first time/the studio fucking with the audio at the end of the movie.
-any behind the scenes footage (if it exists)
-lobby cards or foreign poster cards
-old SHOK mini comic book AND new mini comic adaptation.
-original script
-Student short "incidents in an expanding universe"
-Trailer/TV spots (for some reason i love shit like this)
-BONUS DISK- W/ all shorts not yet released "tripping the dark fantastic" promo, "Black Tulips", "sea of perditon", "IBM TRAILER and or the other shorts from that iceland shoot" "The magician" (starring RICHARD), "Gudan's day" (IMMO HORN'S short) anything else he has done that has not been released (i would even hope for all his promo vids he did, but i'm a HUGE fan and this is just my fantasy edition), would even love to see his ALIEN 3 video game promo.
OK, OK, OK, i know there is no way all of that can be on it but, there is my wish list. till then we will just have to pray for subversive to get the rights so we can get another MULTI DISKED SPECIAL EDITON.

Last I've spoken to R.S. about it, most of the rights issue is done. Right now, it's a matter of time, as he needs to divide his time with a lot of different things, including the impending VACATION shoot. He's also told me HARDWARE 2: GROUND ZERO is raising positive attention. The DVD and the script can help each other out in this respect, which will hopefully be the case.

At the moment, HARDWARE dvd is looking good for 2008.

Found someone selling Hardware DVDs...

http://www.ioffer.com/i/24257922

I know this isn't the official release, but I wonder about where these came from and what quality they would be...
:?

Not being able to wait any longer, I hunted down and downloaded a torrent of the movie. Upon inspection, this has been cropped to an improper aspect ratio. I'll post a pic or two in the next few days...

...on the other hand, the picture quality is dazzling- I haven't seen it look this good since I saw in the theater 18 years ago!

Oh, same here too! :D

Anyway, here's the travesty:

That's how the image appears letterboxed. The name credits are essentially unreadable. :x

Mmm, I know. It's good and bad at the same time. :(

I ran my copy through GSpot, and GSpot says that it has a display aspect ratio of 2.222 (or 20:9). I forget what the 'official' aspect ratio was, I'll have to look that up ...

I ... I know. Ohhh, the wait!! The tease!! By Crom's blade!!! What the hĕll are they doing? What, did a shoggoth appear from the ninth plane of hell, and eat the master copy of HARDWARE? Or perhaps, in some sort of bizarre cross-plane (cross-plot?) mishap involving the replicators, the office where the master copy is being held was enveloped in a time-dilation sphere, making it impossible to reach?

WHoooo.....!! sorry if you got reference whiplash ... Conan, Cthulhu, Dante, and Stargate SG-1!

Geez, I guess that's what happens when you don't post for a while .. everything builds up, and gets crammed into several sentences. Hmmmmmm....

But I digress. Where's the beef? Whodunit? Where'ditgo? KnowhutImean, Verne? What happened to our HARDWARE release? And -- didn't MGM spot for a re-release of the movie?? Wherezzat? I'd been all pumped and psyched to see it, live, on the big screen again ... oh Calgon, take me away!! :crying:

Zone Horror in the UK (Sky channel) is showing the MGM print of Hardware in 1.85, with no cropping that I can see.
Pretty clean print, vastly better than the German disk.
