Bingo!!! Glurrk is da' man. I was figuring that was a decently obscure reference ... especially since his 'Uncanny X-Men' era was .. what, 15-20 years ago? Mid to late 80's? And that particular spelling ... it'd be a print-only reference, nothing as such showing up in da' movies.

I consider that a lucky shot- I knew who Nightcrawler was (I had a friend who was an X-Men fan back in high school) but I didn't learn about the "Bampf" reference until the second movie came out. ("Nightcrawler's in X-Men 2, and he BAMPFS in it!")
