The doctor wouldn't give me Diazepam so I asked him what other muscle relaxants there were and he prescribed me Baclofen. It can be taken long term. It works ok for the anxiety makes me manage it a bit better, it takes away those racing thoughts in your head and does take away the tension in the muscles.

Diazepam in particular (along with alprazolam ) has been historically linked to abuse, so doctors are often very reluctant to prescribe those now. Clonazepam or Lorazepam might be something your doctor is more comfortable prescribing, but as I say, it's best to explore the other treatments first so that if it is required your doctor can justify it.
I think a pdoc would be more willing to prescribe you valium than a normal doctor as they are more able to weigh up the benefits vs risk of dependence etc. I think a referral would be your best bet. There may even be something different that would help more than valium, the pdoc would know.
