Hi all. I've been a bit of a lurker for a while so I thought it was about time I contributed.
After seeing the island of Dr Moreau it was obvious to me as a film fan that it showed many of the classic signs of studio interferance. A little bit of research led me to this facinating site, from then on I've been a Richard Stanley fanatic. I bought the Dust Devil and Hardware DVD's from fab press, both films I found to be astounding, especially taking into account the size of the budgets, problems with studios etc

However, one thing that always bugged me was the Hardware DVD cover, the Dust Devil one I could live with but the Hardware one truly sucked IMHO, so I made my own...

It should hopefully be possible to download it here.

It's a btyahoo photo folder. If anyone has any trouble downloading it I will happily email it out (it's 1.4m)

Of course you guys might think my DVD cover sucks, in which case your free to let me know :D

I once bounced into these insanely cool bootleg DVD covers at eBay - for a minute there, I had to pinch myself to realize they were not officially remastered editions. But one can dream...

But that Dust Devil is damn-sight cool; nails the Leone feel Stanley was after. I think he'd dig that artwork.

=P~

edit: I like your Supes II cover art, if that's your work. Your Hardware's getting there, although it currently strikes out as merely "enhanced" version of the old UK VHS cover. Not bad, but also not distinctive enough as of yet to really grab my eye.

Not bad, Pineapples! :)

Like Sic said, it's not too distinctive, but on the other hand you could have told me it was the official Region 1 DVD jacket and I would have believed you. 8)

Now, if the design were up to me, I would have seen fit to put more of Stacey Travis on the jacket, because my unhealthy obsession- er, I mean my enthusiastic fascination with her demands it!

P.S. - Welcome to the forum! :D

Cheers guys, nice to be here :D

That Dust Devil cover is superb, I might have to rip it off.

As for my Hardware cover, for the record it's not just a scan of the old VHS, the whole thing including all the logo's, pictures on the back and text is all made from scratch, I just hope I don't ever get sued by the BBFC for duplicating their logo with Adobe Illustrator

Oh and the Superman II cover is for a fan edit that was produced by some guys associated with this superb site... http://www.supermancinema.co.uk/

While the cover for Hardware that you made is good it's far too low resolution to be printed properly. A good cover should be 3240 x 2176 pixels in size and at 300 dpi.
Othervise it's too fuzzy. But good work putting it together.

The original is put together in photoshop at 300dpi.
Actually I should have said, anyone who wants a copy of this should email me and I'll send out the high res version.

Glad you liked it tho :)
